Beware Maruti Suzuki Alto, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. has launched its version of the entry compact hatch, dubbed Eon. The Hyundai Eon could be one of the most instrumental products which may redefine the auto market share control in India.

Based on a 814-cc SOHC, 3-cyl, 9 valves drivetrain, the Eon is tailor made for the Indian consumers and thus enormous threat to the monopoly of Maruti Alto. Considering the current production and supply crisis Maruti is facing which has stretched the waiting periods to an unprecedented high, Hyundai's job couldn't have been easier.

"Eon has been specifically built keeping in mind the varied Indian conditions and special requirements of the customers here. It will further expand our market share in the fast-growing small car segment in the Indian market," HMIL Managing Director and CEO H W Park said.

Carrying a banner price of INR 2.69 - 3.71 lakh, the Eon is not just competitively priced, but offers a best-in-class fuel efficiency of 21.1-kpl.
