Mercedes Benz has revealed intentions to rival the BMW X6 with an entirely new Mercedes Benz model, to be seen on roads by 2015.

BMW has long overtaken Mercedes in the premium car sales and one of the reasons for this success has been creating niche segments by rolling out new products like the BMW X1 and BMW X6. These products not just offer the consumer variety within the BMW range, but have no segment competition as well. 

However, Mercedes has plans. The new Benz, dubbed the GLS, is to be manufactured in USA, the largest consumer market. Although the specification details aren't revealed yet, speculations exist for a powerful gasoline V8 and a frugal diesel V6. Goes without saying that an AMG version is expected to follow too.
