Inspired by the successful runs of its 205, 206 and 207, Peugeot now introduces a new model in the supermini segment, the Peugeot 208.

An extension of the Peugeot 207, the 208 is much lighter - as much as 173-kg, compact by 7cm in length and 1cm in height, and still manages to offer more knee room - by 5cm - and more boot space as well.

"The 208 is a new illustration of the Marque’s project launched two years ago, representing a new stage in Peugeot's desire to drive itself towards ever greater modernity." says Xavier Peugeot, Marketing and Communication Director, Automobiles Peugeot.

The person behind the 208, Laurent Blanchet, Product Range Director, Automobiles Peugeot said "With the 208, Peugeot has given itself the means to recreate an icon."

While Gilles Vidal, Style Director, Automobiles Peugeot adds "The strength of the 208 lies in its style: it is a real ball of energy. It has the potential to please everyone, like a popular piece of music that touches the human soul regardless of culture.”

Overall the 208 appears to be promisingly discrete with all this and best in class emission figures. But to test its mettle further we'll have to wait until its introduction, which is expected by spring, 2012.
